Ian was Raiding Captain of the Wetton Pirates before his arrest.[1]
Appearance
Ian is a tall man with a large torso. He has long brown hair tied back into a pony tail. Over his chest, he wears a light-blue shirt with brown thread sewn into the neckline. Atop his hair he dons a striped blue-and-white bandana.
Personality
Ian seems to be quite knowledgeable, since he could identify the Rainbow Mist within seconds of seeing it. He, like many other pirates, is scared of the Mist.[1]
Abilities and Powers
Ian was seen wielding a sword, though it was unknown how skilled he was in using it.[citation needed]
History
Past
About 50 years ago, Ian helped Wetton chase down the Pumpkin Pirates when they tried to steal the Tarielishin. As they sailed out, he was the first to identify the Rainbow Mist, and was quite scared of it.[1] However, he was ultimately captured in the mist along with the Pumpkin Pirates, remaining stuck there for the next 50 years. During that time, he was taken prisoner by the children and kept aboard a deserted Marine ship.
Sky Island Saga
Ruluka Island Arc
Ian escaped his imprisonment by tricking Rongo, and took the boy hostage as he tried to escape. However, he was spotted by the Straw Hat Pirates and the rest of the Pumpkin Pirates, who tried to rescue Rongo; after throwing him into the water, Ian was able to distract the pirates and escape from them, making his way back to Ruluka.
When he arrived, he mistook Lake for Wetton and embarrassed Flip when he revealed that he frequently peed in his pants as a kid.[3]
He was then arrested along with Wetton, Flip and Lake by the Pumpkin Pirates who came back as members of the Marines.
Trivia
- Ian is the first character to be displaced forward in time, originating from about 50 years ago.
- A similar situation would occur in canon during the Wano Country Arc, when Kouzuki Toki used the Toki Toki no Mi, first to displace herself 800 years and later to displace Kouzuki Momonosuke and some of the Nine Red Scabbards 20 years.
