Hmm... I usually wouldn't condone fighting in the middle of a sermon... but that seemed really important. ![]() |
— PREACHER |
The PREACHER is a character in OMORI. He is the priest who takes care of the CHURCH in FARAWAY TOWN.
CHARACTERISTICS
The PREACHER is a kind-hearted and religious man. He is open-minded towards others and never judges someone based on simply appearances or rumors, as he doesn't prevent AUBREY from attending his masses despite her status as a delinquent. He is also very patient, as he isn't too bothered whenever AUBREY calls him names or refuses to talk to him whenever the former tries to talk to her.
He can be very perceptive, being capable of seeing when someone is troubled (in AUBREY's case) or knowing when not to interfere in an incident (like when he realized how important the fight between SUNNY, KEL, and AUBREY was, and chose not to stop it despite it happening in the middle of his sermon).
Ever since he was a child, he had suffered from stage fright. This habit would normally hinder his ability to perform a sermon during Sundays. However, he found out that taking scenic walks would help him calm down. So he made it a habit to always take a walk in the park before his sermons.
STORY
BACKGROUND
The PREACHER had been working as a priest for FARAWAY TOWN's CHURCH for at least a few years.
After the incident involving MARI's death four years ago, AUBREY had started attending his sermons every week. A number of the other people attending the sermon disliked AUBREY because she was a delinquent. However, the PREACHER refused to stop her from attending his sermons.
He recognized that something had been bothering AUBREY, especially since she didn't interact with the other people there. However, any attempt of his to talk to her always ended with AUBREY calling him names and refusing to talk to him. Nevertheless, he continues to give the troubled girl his respects and concerns.
THREE DAYS LEFT
In the early afternoon, the PREACHER can be first encountered taking a walk in FARAWAY PARK. He tells SUNNY due to his stage fright, he would calm himself down before a sermon by taking a scenic walk. After a while, he heads back to the CHURCH in order to prepare for the Sunday mass.
Later on, KEL and Sunny attend his sermon in order to confront AUBREY on BASIL's stolen PHOTO ALBUM. This confrontation soon escalated into a physical fight once the people attending the mass noticed AUBREY and starting berating her. After the dust settles, AUBREY, on the brink of tears, runs out of the CHURCH.
As the attendees continue to gossip and berate AUBREY, KEL, and SUNNY, the PREACHER tells the two boys that he doesn't condone any fighting during a sermon. However, he acknowledges that it seemed important. This suggests that he may have intentionally not interfered with the fight because he figured out that this fight was important to those three kids.
He then reveals to them that AUBREY had been attending the church every week for the past few years, but she never talked to anyone. He explained that, when he tried to talk to her, she would just called him names each time and refuse to talk to him. The PREACHER then tells the boys that she seems troubled and could probably use a friend.
TWO DAYS LEFT
The PREACHER remains in the CHURCH, standing in front of the grand piano. He will tell the party no sermon is going to be held but everyone is still welcome here when interacted.
ONE DAY LEFT
The PREACHER remains in the CHURCH, standing in the west to the grand piano. He will tell the party no sermon is going to be held but everyone is still welcome here when interacted.
