PAPA CHIP is a character and NPC in OMORI. He is an talking oven who specializes in baking cookies, first appearing within ORANGE OASIS's BREAVEN only if the group sacrifices a plate of COOKIES.
PROFILE
APPEARANCE
PAPA CHIP is a large talking oven with pink and purple highlights. He has two black eyes with white pupils, rubber-like limbs, and a chef's hat to illustrate his appearance as a master chef. He also wears pink oven mitts and shoes.
PERSONALITY
Jolly and cheerful, PAPA CHIP is friendly towards anyone he comes across. This is shown through his first interaction with the party, where he happily introduces himself while giving them a free loaf of BREAD. He also displays a protective nature towards the party, as he has saved a great deal of explorers by warning them of the dangers that lie ahead in the BREAVEN in the past.
Despite this warm-hearted demeanor, PAPA CHIP can also be serious at times when he senses something bad is about to happen. His warnings regarding sacrificing the plate of OATMEAL COOKIES seems to be out of genuine concern and fear for the party, knowing that doing so will bring the malicious NEFARIOUS CHIP into the world.
STORY
In the BREAVEN, if the player decides to touch the big TOAST, the ground will crumble underneath the player's party, giving them access to the crypt guarded by an ACTUAL MOLE. Within the crypt is a summoning circle, a safe, and a counter of items which can be placed in the circle. Among these items is a plate of COOKIES, which if sacrificed summons PAPA CHIP himself. He will give the party a loaf of BREAD and jump over to the top right corner of the area.
If the player decides to sacrifice the plate of OATMEAL COOKIES, PAPA CHIP will continuously try to persuade the party to not sacrifice the OATMEAL COOKIES as it will bring an evil force into the realm before turning back in fear. After defeating NEFARIOUS CHIP, PAPA CHIP will note that his advice isn't needed then.
PAPA CHIP later appears at ORANGE OASIS's CLUB SANDWICH after the group defeats the UNBREAD TWINS.

- PAPA CHIP is presumably based on a character from a cookbook using his name, which can be found in HOBBEEZ within FARAWAY TOWN. The character also appears as DAPHNE's PET ROCK.
- In the game's data, PAPA CHIP is referred to as papa CHIPPE.
