Alice is a playable minor character in Odin Sphere, she only appears during segments that take place in the Attic Library, she is the reader of the erion saga book series, alice is the only character in odin sphere that do not appear in the story book of Erion Saga book series, as she was the reader of the books.
Profile Overview
Alice is a young human girl who lived in the early 19th century during the middle late industrial revolution era, she was born in 7th of april 1814, according to sources, alice was the little girl who was present in the attic that stumbled upon a group of books called "erion saga book series" during her search for the toy she uses to play with her pet cat socrates in the roof space of their home that she described as "mysteriously" looking books where alice have read a poem story tale called "erion saga" and she describes it's main storyline as something "colorfully magical but terribly sad" and assumed it only as purely "fictional" story of a poetic book in which she inexplicably remembers that it was the exact books that alice's grandfather previously referred to her that he used to love, it was in the year 1822 when alice accidentally discovered the erion saga book series while looking for the pet toy she plays with her pet cat and that makes her 8 years old at the time when alice read the erion saga poem story from the erion saga series books she unexpectedly found in the attic of their house.
She is the youngest existing character in the entire franchise of odin sphere, alice is even much younger than the fairy queen formerly princess mercedes of the ringford kingdom, who fell second in line in terms of lesser age and being the youngest character in the entire game of odin sphere, alice is the only character in the entire franchise who hasn't yet reached the stage of puberty unlike other characters who had been over in this stage while mercedes is still being on this stage on the process of having this growth in her body by considering mercedes age during the main storyline event while alice being 8 years old at the time over a millennia later incident after the erion saga storyline when she was reading the erion saga book series in the year 1822.
Alice doesn't play an active role in the main story, as she is simply reading Gwendolyn, Cornelius, Mercedes, Oswald, and Velvet's tales as they unfold. After finishing The Book of Armageddon, she expresses sadness due to everyone in the world dying while remarking her grandfather still somehow liked the books anyway. After putting down The Book of Armageddon, she notices a coin-like object inlaid in the cover and removes it, noting that it resembles the symbol of Valentine. She makes a wish for the Pooka to regain their human forms, but reminds herself that it is only a story. She is then called down by her mother since the cake she had been baking was finished and leaves the Attic, only just missing Cornelius and Velvet, who take the coin and leave behind the Wheel of Fate book.
The epilogue of the story reveals that she actually lives in Erion one thousand years after the Armageddon destroyed the continent and it is speculated that she is one of Gwendolyn and Oswald's many descendants.
Appearance Traits
She is an 8 year old girl book reader of the erion sagas series, she is the youngest character present in the game, as she appears to be even younger than Mercedes. She is fair-featured and has blue eyes, as well as long blonde hair that she keeps in twintails held by black bows. (The bows, interestingly, appear to be on the sides of her pigtails rather than around them at the base.) This causes her to greatly resemble her ancestors, Gwendolyn and Oswald.
She wears a simple long-sleeved blue dress with a white collar and underside, white bloomers, and black and grey-striped socks with black shoes.
Personality Classification
She is shown to be very affectionate to her cat Socrates and enjoyed reading the Erion Saga despite the sad ending. She also seems to be a slight snob, as when Alice asked Socrates to follow her when her mother called her down, she said "Fine, suit yourself!" when he didn't immediately come down.
Alice possess an incredibly vivid imagination that encompasses beyond her mindset that is enough to have her own visual perception of the erion saga main storyline that she describes as "colorfully magical but terribly sad" this shows alice some of the parts of her personality which is based how she perceives the erion saga story through her ideal self perspective.

Alice Parents Theory 1
a japanese anime magazine artwork called "weekly famitsu" that was released in 2015 in japan may have given a physical image appearance of alice's parents that resembles mercedes and ingway, this artwork illustration resulted in fans creating theories that alice parents we're reincarnated mercedes and ingway in their later life after their deaths during the erion saga storyline, however the ending card shown at the very end of odin sphere leifthrasir game credits shows mercedes as a world tree with her weapon can be seen within her roots as mercedes was being a world tree as she became to be because it was destined to her by the prophecies since her psypher was never sacrificed in the cauldron as the other four main playable characters whom their psyphers got sacrificed because velvet was able to have access those psyphers from them due to being an ally with the other main playable characters except mercedes and thus allowing her to take those weapons for sacrificing.
Unlike mercedes weapon which was never taken from her due to mercedes being a hostile enemy to other four main playable characters and therefore her psypher cannot be taken from them or by velvet to be exact since she was one the who took the weapons in to sacrifice in the cauldron in order to power it again and reverse it's power to heal the wounded world that it got during the armaggeddon, because of this, only mercedes psypher remains through out later in the continued story of the game but it is unknown where it went later after being seen on this incident it may have vanished for some unknown reasons or it may still retained there, as for ingway who was mercedes eventual crush and to be yet interest love, he can be seen in the netherworld looking at mercedes sprawl little white flower with large yellow dot on it's middle that is attached to her most below roots that reached the netherworld from the ground above where she was sitting as a world tree, since mercedes was revealed to have become a world tree after the erion saga main storyline and it's armageddon event part being shown in the end of game credits pretty contradicts this theory at all.
Alice Parents Theory 2
The another theory for alice parents is that her parents might not have been a reincarnation of mercedes and ingway at all but rather some god at some point may have created another soul and entity of them as clones to replace their former roles in physical appearance as they did in their former bodies by creating their clones and spawn it as two different entity persons who bears the same physical appearance as them that was intended to have an alternate way of fate for themselves that is instead focused into being successfully together and having a successful good ending for both of the two clones of mercedes and ingway who represent different entities of being a person as if they will have an ending that emulates a phrase of "lived happily ever after" in results.
Rather than both dying in an awful way without saying seen and saying good bye to each other and also for having a bad ending for both of the two people who are in love with each other that happened to mercedes and ingway during the process of the erion saga main storyline and their clones that reincarnated as different identity and separated entities of two people who has nothing in common or any type of relation or connection with them other than having the same physical appearance looks as exactly as them happens to be the parents of alice who represents as two different and separate entities who only bores the same exact physical appearance as mercedes and ingway did in theirs and having no any relation or connection at all which is about to being a "coincidental" occurrence.
Plotline Summary Perspective
Playtime Bonding
One day alice was playing with her pet cat socrates through fetching in the frontyard of their house, she had a pet toy with her that she uses to play with her cat in which alice used to throw around their property as their play goes by overtime it later reached inside of their home where they continued to keep playing for few hours until it eventually ended up in the attic by accident that is far from their current playing area, this prompted alice to climb in their house until she reached the roof space of their home that is called as "attic" as reached this place of their house, she encounters crumpled and messed things sprawled around the roof space of their home and alice decides to arrange and organize the objects that scattered around the entire attic in order to make the searching of the toy she plays with her cat much easier to find.
As alice finally finished arranging and organizing all of the scattered objects in the roof space of their home she resumed her searching for their toy, during her look for it, she discovered an old rusty singular red sofa and a group of "mysteriously" looking books that refers to the erion saga book stories where she would read the poem story tale of erion saga later after discovering it accidentally, she just noticed that these "mysteriously" looking books seemed did not come from a regular publisher and it was not known who wrote and made the books since it had no any mentioned author's name who created books and there are also no present dates that can be found in the books when it was made, there are no any known things about it except the fact that alice's grandfather used to love it for some reasons which is likely about probably being a "fairytale" story.
Unanticipated Findings
Upon her discovery of the erion saga book series, it quickly caught her attention due to the being "mysteriously" looking books as she describes it after the seeing the books that narrates the entire erion saga poem story, because of this, it made alice abandon her searching of the toy she uses to play with her cat and turn her attention to investigating the group of books by reading it instead as she alice looked in the books one by one to investigate it, she was fascinated in it's contents as alice was intrigued by the containing narrated story that is found within these books and she then started reading the books one by one as alice was curious to know more and wanting to fully understand it's entire story that is known as "erion saga" which is told by the books in it's introduction.
Novel Inspection
As alice reads through books by books, she was eventually amazed and enjoyed reading the story as she reads it overtime and alice often describes it as "colorfully magical but terribly sad" story due to that alice had read some contents of the story that narrates romances, successes, the love of each other with kindness and tragedy parts of the story at the same time as she goes by in the reading and even expressed her sadness due to almost everyone in the entire story dies out because of the ongoing destruction of the world that was told in the story that alice reads.
Lunch Time
After alice had finished all reading the books and expressing her sadness over the story's ill-fate future events later, she relieved herself by thinking and saying to herself that it was just a "fictional" story of a group of poetic books she just read that she accidentally found in the attic of their house and upon inspecting the books more, she found a large coin in one of the books which is that of armageddon book where she exactly found a large coin and the story that she previously read recently remembered her that the large coin she found attached in the armageddon book was a "valentine" coin that velvet and cornelius we're looking for that was told in the poem story of erion saga she just read from the erion saga book series and alice being out of amused caused by the erion saga poem story that she read previously.
Alice had jokingly wished that velvet and cornelius should come to the attic of their house to get the large "valentine" coins they we're looking for in exchange for the extension of the story in order for them to finally become humans, however alice assumed it was just nothing but rather a sarcasm she just felt to tell because of the feeling she had from the erion saga story after reading it, soon after, alice's mom called her for a cake that was just recently finished baking and alice responded back to her mom by saying she would come for it, however her cat not seemingly wanted to come with her and alice ask it, if it wants to come, when the cat did not moved and have shown some gestures not wanting to come, alice decides to tell her cat to suit it's own and leave it alone by itself from the attic as she goes down in their house for the cake in the kitchen of their home as she was called for the cake and alice tells her mom what she just have found in the roof space of their home.
Unexpected Inclination
The cat however eventually comes up with her after alice just have left recently from the attic and a few seconds later the entire attic room went in little dark clouds and a blue circular rectangular circle appears in the attic where velvet and cornelius had actually come out after they we're wished by alice that she only intended as a joke, who took the large "valentine" coin that alice previously removed from the armageddon book and then velvet and cornelius finally get what they needed and left out a book called "wheel of fate" that reads on it's own after it was left in the attic by velvet and cornelius right after they leave the attic of alice's home that narrates the later events for velvet and cornelius after surviving the erion saga story and finding all the valentine coins they needed to become humans again, their appearance in the attic of alice's family home reveals that the erion saga storyline is actually true rather than being a fictional because of their presence being physically existing and was shown later during alice's era time.
(Alice's pespective in the game rightfully ends here as there are no any more cutscenes to be shown right after this incident and the will be next cutscene of the game after this is continued next in the "wheel of fate" book where velvet and cornelius would make a wish in the spirit of deceased former king of the valentine kingdom, called king valentine that shows his original form as a king before he died and became a revenant)
Ending Epilogue
It is unknown what alice did later after she went down into the kitchen of their home for the cake as she was called by her mom for it and after her pet cat socrates later leaves the attic after alice as she was after with her mom's cake in the kitchen area of their house that was just recently finished in baking, there are no anymore pinpointing stories beyond this event other than seeing velvet and cornelius coming in the attic of alice's home to take the removed valentine coin from the armageddon book that alice previously removed that was caused because of alice had jokingly made a wish for velvet and cornelius to come in the attic of their house to take the valentine coin that alice removed from the armageddon book that eventually actually happened right after alice and socrates both leaves the attic soon after.
Some sources stated that alice had a lover in her later lifetime and got married soon after in her early 20s, her family was totally unmentioned other than herself, her husband and her future kids are never known nor told who they are in their names, there are no any other things being about it other than that alice had them in her later life, she narrated later these stories to her children during her adult youth time that she got from the books she read when she was a child that likely came from her grandfather until the time came where her children would eventually going to have their own offspring in their later lives as well and as alice becomes an old woman, her children finally left on their own leaving alice alone herself, her unmentioned husband later dies a few years after her children became adults and leave alice on her own along with her husband, alice spent the final later decades of her life in loneliness after her husband died and she only received few visitings from her children during this time through out her final years until she finally passed away in 3rd of march of the exact year of 1900, (according to some based legitimate sources of her background information found in japanese and some english language anime websites that hosts both of gaming, episode and manga community forums) at the age of 85, a month before her 86th birthday.
Relationships
Socrates
Socrates is Alice's best friend and is always present whenever she's in the attic. They are very affectionate to each other, with Alice being able to hold Socrates without him struggling and petting him when they're sitting in the chair.
Gameplay (PS2)
Compared to the other characters, Alice doesn't do much gameplay wise. She is capable of being directed to the books as they're unlocked using the gamepad or left joystick. To carry them, the player must hold downward when prompted. She must then carry them to the chair in order to be read, either manually or automatically by holding up or pressing the jump button. She can also pick up Socrates carry him to the chair instead, which allows the player to view the cutscene archive.
Gameplay (OSL)
Alice retains her standard movement and actions in the remake: however, she's been given a number of new animations and can be directed to the shelf to read the Text Archive without having to pause the game. She also now simply sets books down on the floor where she stands rather than setting them down exactly where she picked them up.

- She might have been inspired by Shin Megami Tensei's Alice.
- She is directly based on the little girl seen in the beginning/menu of Princess Crown: They have a pretty much similar appearance, but different outfits and hairs, but they own a similar cat the player can carry, and both of them are reading a fantasy book series and they're both used as the story's framing device.
- Based on her clothes, alice might had been born around the early or mid 1800s and her clothes might possibly from victorian era by design
- She is featured on the covers of both the first soundtrack released 2007 and the soundtrack for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir.
- A piece of official artwork from Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir that was featured in a December 2015 issue of Weekly Famitsu has a couple standing behind Alice, who are presumably her parents. The couple bears a startling resemblance to Mercedes and Ingway, which has resulted in a fan theory cropping up that Alice's parents are a reincarnated Ingway and Mercedes.
- This is, however, contradicted by the ending shown in-game where Mercedes is shown to have been reborn as the World Tree while Ingway is in the Netherworld resting at her roots, and both the artist and Vanillaware have neglected to make any comments regarding it.
- It is unknown where alice exactly lives but it's speculated that she lives possibly around western europe very near to scandinavian countries due to the game's involvement with the actual european history as it uses old norse script language which can be seen in some street signs in the kingdom of titania and old norse derived names of the odin sphere playable main character heroes, old norse is a dead ancient language that was dissolved in the high late medieval ages as it's speakers favored it's descendant languages and those it's descendant languages lives and exists today spoken in some millions of people and those languages are Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Icelandic, old norse language fate is similar to latin language of the italy during the roman empire era period which are both are dead ancient languages but their descandant languages exists latin language descendants are (aragonese, spanish, portuguese, galician, french, italian and romanian) and due to the european history involvement in odin sphere and it's featuring structures, kingdoms and clothing of the existing character figures there in the game are in european styles this makes that alice is obviously a european girl from europe, the only part of this that can totally be confirmed as 100% true and accurate is that alice was born and lives in the same place where erion is located around the european continent 1038 years later after the events of erion saga which is the main storyline plotline of the game that she reads in the books of her house attic, the most suspectible european country where she is from is likely to be denmark due to it's centralized location in europe that crosses vikings, valkyries, berserkers and fairies in the game and it's land forms strikingly resembles erion, it is likely that alice's nationality may had been danish and that she is from denmark and her language is danish, it is been also said that she might have been originated somewhere else in the central mainland europe that are northern central germany or the netherlands, while others expressed that it could had been also in belgium or france because of the game's involvement of the french culture & pooka village due to it's french architecture resemblance, there are also some theories that alice might have originated and lived in these following countries northern france, belgium, luxemberg or the netherlands, there are some rumor theories that erion existed in the land that was located in one of these present modern day countries if not denmark while others argue that it was in england or the ireland, alice likely did not know how to speak, understand or know any word of english, since english language was not still that popular through out europe to be known and still not a global language at the time during the 1820s she probably only spoke danish language and the erion sagas she reads are likely in danish language transliterated from it's old and medieval version that was transliterated from the original language texts of old norse language that later went extinct afterwards.
