The Messengers Journey
The Messenger was a Necrum employee who was part of a secret society set up by the Keeper. He had never met the Keeper, but one day he was given the Amulet, a map, and instructions to find Abe. While he did not know the specifics, he recognized the significance of his mission, and of the sacred nature of the object that he carried. Whenever he felt doubt, he would open the parcel and stare at the Amulet, and it would give him the motivation to continue.[1]
With this, the Messenger embarked on a journey to find the fabled Mudokon liberator Abe and warn him about the fate of the Mudokon race. The Messenger traverses the desert in search of the Monsaic Lines. Tragically, during his travels, he ends up getting shot and is forced to carry a fatal gunshot wound for the rest of his trip. Eventually the Messenger finds the hideout, but accidentally leads Molluck and his slig forces straight to it as they begin to napalm the sacred Mudokon grounds. The Messenger himself eventually collapsed at an entrance to the Monsaic Lines, unable to walk any further due to his wounds and the Brew sickness kicking in.
Abe finds the escapee while making his own way out. The barely conscious Mudokon was initially afraid of Abe, as he could no longer see clearly. Only when the messenger held Abe's face and felt his stitches did he finally realize that he finally found him. With his last breaths, the messenger revealed to Abe that his followers were dying, and that he must find the Keeper. Abe did not know what the message actually meant, but he took the amulet and the map that held it, before going off to find his fellow escapees.
