Nyamsus (ニャムサス) is the family cat of Kousaka household. At the beginning of the anime and manga, it seems that she only wishes to make life miserable for Junpei, but her true feelings are later revealed in the series.
Appearance
Nyamsus has a tuxedo color pattern. She wears a red bandana around her neck. She is often described as a fat cat. (One instance is by Kanako).
Background
Held in high respect and as an older-sister by a vast majority of felines in her local neighborhood, she is often seen accompanied by other cats; more closely, Tama usually accompanies Nyamsus.
She plays the important role of Junpei's guide who usually notifies Junpei of cats who are in dire need so that Junpei may assist them. This happens throughout the series.
Later in the series, she reveals (to herself) that she is grateful of Junpei since Junpei provided her a home, going as far as to beg in front of his mother whilst crying and ignoring his allergies. Nyamsus greatly cares for Junpei but shows this subtly like when she claims ownership of the living room so as to prevent Junpei from sleeping in it and catching a cold.
