Veld is the main antagonist and final boss in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. He is a dark bishop of the Loptr Church, the administrator of all of the cult's activities in the Munster District, and the wielder of Stone, a rare form of dark magic capable of petrifying its victims. He was responsible for the Aed Massacre by informing King Travant of the movements and vulnerability of Quan and Ethlyn as they travelled through the Aed Desert, using the assassination of Quan as a means to turn North and South Thracia against each other. During the Grannvale occupation of the Munster District, Veld acts as a benefactor to Duke Raydrik of Munster, providing him with the Loptous Sword and the support of the Loptrian forces.
Profile
Shortly after Raydrik's arrest of Leif, Veld is present in the Munster Castle arena with Raydrik, watching Eyvel and Nanna fight against gladiators set upon them by Raydrik. When Eyvel is able to defeat most of the enemies and resist Mareeta's attempts to kill her, Veld casts Stone upon her and petrifies her, then leaves with Raydrik, allowing Leif to escape.
Later, when Leif's army returns to Munster for their final battle with Raydrik, Veld expresses his disgust with Raydrik's failures and threatens to cut his support, but nonetheless gives Raydrik a small unit of the Bergrosen to use against Leif. Following Raydrik's defeat, Veld turns him into the Deadlord Mus and sets him up to guard the Munster Loptyrian temple against Leif's assault. To assist him in battle, Manfroy entrusts Veld with five more Deadlords. Ultimately, Leif's army defeats the Deadlords, unlocks Veld's chamber, and defeats Veld.
Trivia
- Veld is one of the few final bosses of the Fire Emblem series who is fully human and isn't possessed by an outside force. The only other two so far are King Ashnard and Hegemon Edelgard. Those two however are helped by a greater power that is under their control. Veld remains to this day the only final boss who is just a regular human with no additional power.
- Veld is also arguably the final boss who is the weakest threat out of them all as he is the underling of the underling of the final boss of another game.
