Toxic

Toxic (どくどく Excessive Poison?) is a non-damaging Poison-type move introduced in the first generation. It badly poisons a foe. It is TM06 in every generation so far.

Effects

The move attempts to poison a single foe. Once it poisons a foe, it doubles damage each turn, starting at 1/16 of the target's maximum HP

Changes between generations

Generation I - The rate it increases each time it takes damage from Toxic or Leech Seed but resets with Haze. When the poisoned Pokémon is switched out or ends a battle, the counter is reset, but if it is cured by Rest, the counter remains and affects the next damage by normal poison, burn or Leech Seed. This can only be reset if the Pokémon is afflicted with Toxic again. This is fixed in Pokémon Stadium

Generation II - IV - Toxic damage is now separate from other status damage. Like poison, Toxic cannot affect Steel-types or Pokémon with Immunity.

Generation V - Accuracy is changed from 85 to 90

Generation VI - Toxic will not missed if used by a Poison Pokémon, even in the semi-invulnerable turn of certain moves like Fly. Toxic can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, causing Hex, Venom Drench and Venoshock to give an extra three appeal points if used in the next turn.

Generation VII - If powered up by a Poisonium Z into Z-Toxic, the user's Defense stat rises by one stage.
