Roc's Feather is a recurring item from the Legend of Zelda series. It is a magical feather that makes its wearer lighter than air, and able to leap incredibly high. When used it lets Link leap into the air to avoid obstacles and pits. It first appeared in the Game Boy video game The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and has also appeared in the Game Boy Color games The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages\Seasons and the GameCube video game The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure. It allows Link to jump up for only one second, but when upgraded to Roc's Cape, it allows him to stay in the air for about three seconds, as well as travel up to four spaces compared to the Roc's Feather's one space of movement. It is also necessary for defeating the Final Boss.
Trivia
- The Roc is a legendary creature that appears in the folklore of middle eastern countries. It is a giant bird of prey, large enough to carry off an elephant. The Kargarok and Helmaroc King are both based on Rocs, though it is unknown if they have any connection to Roc's Feather.
- The Roc's Feather that appears in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is a creation of the Wind Fish's dream. However, the ones that appear in Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Four Swords Adventures are genuine articles.
- In most of its appearances, the Roc's Feather is blue and white. However, in Link's Awakening (Switch) it is instead red and yellow.
