Monita is the host and guide for the Wii U party game Nintendo Land. She is a floating monitor with an emotionless robotic voice that introduces players to the hub, educating them how to play the various available games. In addition to serving as a tutor, she actively plays a role in a few of these games, such as Luigi's Ghost Mansion and Takamaru's Ninja Castle. In games such as Pikmin Adventure and Metroid Blast, however, the player is introduced to Dark Monita, her antagonistic counterpart that actively summons enemies. With the exception of their respective hats, both are identical in appearance, and appear to be two separate entities.
Appearance
Monita is a floating robotic monitor that displays a simplistic expressionless face through her screen. The only movement seen in her face is when she speaks, where her circular mouth slightly scales vertically and horizontally. Below her monitor is a single arm, usually bent upward with her hand in a finger wagging position. She wears a bow placed at the beginning of her arm joint and a brimless cylindrical hat hovering above her monitor.
In Other Media
Monita appears as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. She is also a Spirit in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Trivia
- In the NTSC version of Nintendo Land, she speaks with an American accent, while in the game's PAL version (Including the Australia version), she speaks with a British accent. In versions of the game released where English is not the main language, she speaks with that region's main language.
- She is voiced by Emily Bauer in the American English version.
- Monita's name is likely a play on "monitor", a term for the device used to display her face.
- Monita closely looks like an information sign in front of the attraction. they both have a ribbon and a square panel, but Monita has brighter colors like blue and red and white, and the signs are just wooden. You can also compare them by thinking Monita doesn't have a full arm just like when you open the first "?" box.
- On some of the loading screens, Monita is seen without her hat drinking coffee. This is a reference to the Wii U's codename, Project Café.
