Gort

Gort is an antagonist in the Torna ~ The Golden Country DLC of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He is a mercenary who used to have an ambiguous relationship with Rynea, Lora's mother. He was also an abuser to Lora and lost his arm to Jin after trying to kill her for awakening Jin. He holds a deep grudge against both of them and desires to see them suffer and die as retribution.

History

Gort had an unknown relationship with Lora's mother. Lora states that she was his maid but the way Gort talk about her seems to imply that she may have had a closer relationship with him or even that she was a prostitute if his insults towards her in his fits of rage are taken literally. Lora herself was only a child at the time and probably didn't understand most of what was going on even if things were as Gort suggest. It is even possible that Gort may have been Lora's father.

Gort was already a mercenary will an ill temper 17 years before the events of Torna. Around that time, he participated in a raid in which he stole Jin's Core Crystal from one of the nearby palace after years of planning. As Jin is considered to be the "Paragon of Torna", the strongest Blade of the Kingdom of Torna, it immediatly means that whoever owns the Core is a wanted criminal to the royal family. A 10 years old Lora awakens Jin soon after when Gort is not looking at his Core Crystal, this enrages Gort who immediatly tries to stab the young girl to death.

He is stopped by Jin who cuts his arm off and run away with his new Driver. Gort continued his life as a mercenary for 17 years afterwards and eventually got a blue prosthetic arm, which earns him the new nickname of "Bluefist". He becomes one of Amalthus Core Crystal broker at some point. 17 years after loosing his arm, he is sent to Fetley Village after Malos' rampage to find what Core Crystal remained. There he spot Lora and Jin from afar and reports to Amalthus before deciding to pursue Jin and Lora on his own.

Knowing of Haze's power to restrain Blades he hires a group of strictly human mercenaries and ambushes Lora and Haze while they are alone in the cemetery of Torigoth mourning Lora's mother after discovering that she died in the destruction of Torigoth. The two are overwhelmed by jin arrives, incapacitate most of the mercenaries and cut Gort's arms including his remaining one. At Lora's request, Jin refrains from killing Gort who flees in despair and traumatized to have lost his other arm and cursing at them with the intent to have his revenge. He is found by a group of Indoline monks and Stannif who knock him unconscious and take him to Indol.

Stannif brings Gort's unconscious body to Amalthus. Stannif tell him that he seems to recall that he is one of the Amalthus' men, to which Amalthus reply that he is merely a mercenary he hired to obtain Core Crystals for him. Amalthus then notes that he despise people like him and sees him as nothing more than a waste. Stannif then tell him that even if he is a waste, he could be useful for their experiments. Stannif propose to turn him into the first prototype of a Blade Eater. Amalthus concern himself about Gort potentially going berserk. Stannif assures him that as a prototype, he would die shortly after the experiment anyways.

Unlike most of the later Blade Eaters, the Titan gene of the Blade assimilated by the Blade Eater seems to manifest more than usual in Gort and his body turn into a grotesque Titan-like chimera with his most recent cut arm regrown while the other is still replaced by a massive prosthetic. He ambushes Lora and her Blade after Malos was finally defeated and seems to be in a delirious state fulled by his hatred for them and his transformation as he keeps describing how he is going to torture and kill them before the fight. He is however killed by Lora who is now at peace with her dead mother.

Battles

Gort is fought twice. The first time at level 20 with his mercenary group at the Torigoth Cemetery, and the second time at level 53 in his Blade Eater form in an unnamed location in Spessia after the regular final boss. In New Game Plus, his Blade Eater form shares his level with the leader of the party.
