The Deku Nut is an item from the Nintendo 64 video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and it's sequel The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. It is a dried seed pod from a Deku Baba. Deku Nuts are filled with powder that detonates when thrown against the ground, producing a bright flash of light. They can be used to stun or disorient enemies temporarily like a natural stun grenade. They are one of the first obtainable items and Link can find them early on in the Great Deku Tree's dungeon, where they are commonly dropped by Deku Babas. They can also be purchased at the Kokiri Shop and Potion Shop in Hyrule Castle Town.
The Deku Nut's ability to stun enemies when thrown, after which Link will be able to attack the enemy. They can also be used to stun and defeat Queen Gohma.
Deku Nuts also appear in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with similar appearances and uses.
Super Smash Bros. series
Deku Nuts also appear as items in the Super Smash Bros. series starting with Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where they can be thrown to stun opponents. Like other explosives, the player throwing them can be caught in the blast and stunned themselves if they are too close, so caution should be taken when throwing them.
