The Stone Wars[1] were a conflict that occurred thousands of years ago after the First Spinjitzu Master left the Realm of Oni and Dragons and created Ninjago. The First Spinjitzu Master fought the Overlord and his Stone Army to decide the fate of Ninjago, which he ended up splitting into two islands, the other half becoming known as the Dark Island.
History

When the First Spinjitzu Master created Ninjago, the balance of Light and Darkness was also created, one of which was the Overlord who created an indestructible army of warriors called the Stone Army. The First Spinjitzu Master fought the Stone Army, but seeing he could not win, he separated Ninjago Island into two halves: Ninjago and the Dark Island.[2] This delayed the Ultimate Battle for thousands of years until Lloyd defeated the Overlord.[3]

Trivia
- An "era of the Stone Warrior" is mentioned on Infovision in "Infamous," but this refers to a time period around 200 years before the events of the series, not the Stone Wars.[4]
- After the release of Crystalized, Tommy Andreasen theorized that the Stone Wars never actually happened and that the Overlord is the living embodiment of the First Spinjitzu Master's Oni side that the latter literally cast aside.[5]
