The Kingdom of Day,[1] also known as the daylands,[2] is a region of the Earth that is in a constant state of day. It is the primary setting of NieR and NieR:Automata.[3][4]
Background
In the 27th century, the moon was fractured by an unknown event, resulting in a shift of the Earth's axis.[5] The axis distortion caused a change in the Earth's normal day-night cycle, creating continual daytime in the area that would become known as the Kingdom of Day.[3][6][4] The axis shift also presumably lead to the creation of the corresponding Kingdom of Night.
