Minji (Hangul: 민지) is a South Korean idol under ADOR and the eldest member of the K-pop girl group, NewJeans.
History
Early life
Minji, full name: Kim Min-ji, was born on May 7, 2004 in Chuncheon, Gangwon, South Korea. She is her family's middle child as she has an older brother who was born in 2003, and a younger sister born in 2011. During her elementary school years, Minji learnt English before moving to Canada for a few months to study abroad.[2]
At some point during her early teen years, Minji decided to become an idol trainee. She had many offers from agencies, including SM Entertainment, but she chose Source Music, becoming a trainee in 2017.
2019–2021: PLUS GLOBAL AUDITION & BTS "Permission to Dance" Music Video Appearance
Minji's first appearance was in the videos titled "PLUS GLOBAL AUDITION #THE_GIRL 1"[3] and "PLUS GLOBAL AUDITION #THE_GIRL 2"[4] both uploaded on Sep 3, 2019.
Later on, Minji and Hanni both made appearances in BTS's music video "Permission to Dance" on July 8, 2021[5]
2022: Debut with NewJeans & first comeback with Ditto
Minji was officially revealed as a member of NewJeans on July 22, 2022 following the release of the "Attention" MV.

In November 2024, Minji, along with the rest of NewJeans, terminated her contract with ADOR and HYBE LABELS.
