Team 5 is a shinobi team from Konohagakure, which is led by Udon Ise. Its members consist of: Metal Lee, Denki Kaminarimon and Iwabee Yuino. The team participated in the Chūnin Exams, but were eliminated in the second round by Team Shinki. Following Denki's chūnin promotion in the following exam, he was appointed as team captain as Team 5 became a three-person team.

- Gather intel and locate the Byakuya Gang

With the continued thefts performed by the Byakuya Gang throughout Konohagakure, Team 5 was assigned alongside the other genin teams to help stop the self-proclaimed noble thieves. However, the genin were not permitted to engage the Byakuya Gang without aid from a chūnin or higher-ranked shinobi. Due to Iwabee's disobedience of the latter order, which resulted in Metal being injured, the team itself was suspended from the investigation.

After the Seventh Hokage lifted the team's suspension, Team 5 was assigned to participating in a Genin documentary to increase the dwindling Academy enrolments.

Team 5 was assigned to deliver an expensive china plate, though Metal's anxiety caused him to drop it the moment it was handed to him. Later, the team was to deliver a Ming vase, and Metal once again lost his nerve and nearly dropped it.

Team 5 was assigned to capture the panda that was running loose. As part of an exam to become genin, Kawaki was assigned to work with Team 5 to complete a D-rank mission. While Team 5 managed to complete the task, Kawaki had fallen asleep during the mission.
- Deliver and supervise autonomous puppets

Team 5 was assigned to deliver newly developed autonomous puppets by Katasuke Tōno to Dotō Island in the Land of Water to help with mining. Their mission would be interrupted when the Funato clan later invaded the island, forcing the team and the civilians to evacuate with assistance of Team 7, Kagura Karatachi, Buntan Kurosuki, Kyohō Fuefuki and Hebiichigo. Team 5 would assist them during the war between Kirigakure and the Funato. It is unknown if their initial mission is considered a success.

- In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, Lee is part of a different team with two different teammates who wear the same clothing as he does. Teammates with similar designs are briefly seen in Boruto chapter 3.
