The Boss

PERFORMER Whoopi Goldberg
DEBUT 2002

The Boss is manager to Daniel, the angel who monitors the crisis of Kermit the Frog in It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie.

Although it's never clearly stated, it is suggested that her character is the theistic God. For example, she makes claim to having created the complex bug eye and a coffee-producing shrub, and alludes to the fact that she "works in mysterious ways". The latter quotation refers to the Abrahamic God, quoted from the New Living Translation of Isaiah 45:15 in The Bible.

After learning of Kermit's crisis from Daniel, the Boss deploys the angel to help (even though She doesn't want to miss SpongeBob SquarePants). While monitoring the world in which Kermit was never born, the Boss gets teary eyed after Kermit and Gonzo sing "Everyone Matters."

During a May 2008 appearance on The View, Kermit says "I believe she played the part of God, which is sort of the same role she plays here."
