Swamp Thing is a DC Comics character, a powerful humanoid plant creature who originated in, well, a swamp. First debuting in a one-shot story in the anthology House of Secrets #92 (1971) and then in an ongoing series, Swamp Thing's origins have varied over the years and according to different media, from scientific to mystical, but he's consistently a heroic defender who often has an environmental bent.
The character's appearances in other media include a 1982 film, a later sequel, and multiple TV series, as well as occasional appearances in broader DC animated projects or video games.
