Spike Jonze (b. 1969) is an American filmmaker whose work includes music videos, commercials, film, and television. He directed the 2009 feature film Where the Wild Things Are with creatures built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.
In 2016, Jonze directed Grover in a 2½ minute short film that opened the March 1st episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert he was scheduled to appear on as a guest. The short was filmed in New York City the previous Friday, and scored by Jon Batiste and the Stay Human house band.[1] In the silent short, Grover helps a down-and-out Stephen Colbert get back on his feet to find his way back to the Late Show studio. Jonze's other work include directing the feature films Being John Malkovich (with John Malkovich and Cameron Diaz), Adaptation (with Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper), and Her (with Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams), as well as music videos for Weezer, R.E.M., Puff Daddy, Tenacious D, Kanye West, and Lady Gaga.
