DEBUT | 2004 |
Rosa is Rosita's mother on Sesame Street. Though alluded to in years prior (such as in the song "Fiesta"), she first appeared onscreen in a 2004 Spanish Word of the Day sketch, illustrating the word "familia" with all of Rosita's family. Her husband is Ricardo.
She has since appeared primarily in material produced for the show's outreach projects, most notably the 2008 resource video Talk, Listen, Connect: Changes.
Performers
Rosa was initially voiced by Carmen Osbahr, first heard in Episode 2986 when calling for Rosita to come home for her violin lesson. Leslie Carrara-Rudolph performed Rosa in the Talk, Listen, Connect: Changes video and the 2021 "Spanish Is My Superpower" video. Since 2022, Aymee Garcia has been her regular performer.[1]
Unidentified women have provided her voice and puppetry for a number of outreach videos and advertisements, including those for the "Here for Each Other" project and the U.S. Census Bureau's 2020 initative.
