"Ran-Kan-Kan" is a percussion heavy mambo song composed by Tito Puente, who first recorded it with his band in 1950. It became a staple of his act, performed in concert for decades and in the film soundtrack of The Mambo Kings (1992).
A year after the film, Puente performed the song in a Sesame Street insert, backed by an Anything Muppet band. He interrupts the start of a Grouchketeer meeting, but soon wins over the Grouches (with even Oscar himself dancing).
