


Mistletoe has become a recognizable element of holiday decor during the festive winter season, where individuals who find themselves beneath it will share a kiss.

- In various kinds of holiday media and merchandise, Miss Piggy is armed with mistletoe in order to earn a holiday kiss from Kermit the Frog. She bares a spring in a wall decoration from Hallmark and has a storyline in the "Winter" edition of The Muppet Show Comic Book: The Four Seasons where she hopes to lure Kermit beneath one. Onscreen, the two have willingly shared a kiss under the mistletoe in A Muppet Family Christmas and the "All I Need is Love" music video. In It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, Piggy again tries to lure Kermit under the mistletoe for a kiss, but when Kermit regains his zest for life, he unashamedly kisses her declaring, "You don't need mistletoe when you're green!" The decoration is also mentioned as one of the traditional green items found during Christmas in the song "A Red and Green Christmas."
- A Christmas ornament produced by Sigma depicts Gonzo's head adorned with a sprig of mistletoe.
- During the end of "I Hate Christmas" on Merry Christmas from Sesame Street, Oscar the Grouch complains about somebody hanging mistletoe above his trash can.
