"Magic Dance" was written and performed by David Bowie for Labyrinth.
While Sarah anxiously searches the Labyrinth for her brother, Jareth is in his Castle, singing to his goblin followers about the child she seeks.
The opening exchange ("You remind me of the babe." "What babe?") is paraphrased from the song "The Guy with the Voodoo!" by the Fletcher Peck Trio, a song that was lipsynched on Sam and Friends.
David Bowie made the sounds of the baby cooing for the soundtrack.
The song was released on a 12" single containing two remixes of the title track, as well as the song Within You. An edit of "Magic Dance" was also prepared for a 7" release but it was shelved for unknown reasons. The song was produced by David Bowie and Arif Mardin, with additional production and remix by Steve Thompson and Michael Barbiero.
Unlike "Underground", no promotional music video was made for "Magic Dance".
