Lubbuck Lou played jaw-harp in the jug band Lubbock Lou and his Jughuggers. He debuted in The Muppet Show episode 208, where he had different eyes than in his later appearances. He later led the band in the song "Cool Water" in episode 501.

Jim Henson's original design sketch for the jugband lists Lubbock Lou under the name "Slim."^[1]
