Princess Katralla is heir to the throne of the Breakaway Colonies, but only if she finds a suitable husband in time. She appears in the Farscape "Look at the Princess" trilogy: "A Kiss Is But a Kiss," "I Do, I Think," and "The Maltese Crichton."

To keep the empire stable, Katralla must marry someone she can have a child with. If she can't find someone to marry, the throne will fall to her brother, Prince Clavor, who has made a pact with the Scarrans. However, should the Colonies fall to the Scarrans, the Peacekeepers will invade.

Katralla's DNA was poisoned by her brother (with help from the Scarrans), making her incompatible to have a baby with Sebacean men. But when the Moya crew visits the Royal Planet (the capital of the Breakaway Colonies), Katralla discovers she is compatible with John Crichton, who is not a Sebacean but a human. Although Katralla and Councilor Tyno are in love with each other, they grudgingly put it aside for the sake of the empire.

Crichton is initially resistant to the idea of marrying Katralla, but when it is revealed that if he doesn't he'll be turned over to Scorpius, he reluctantly agrees to the marriage. In another unfortunate turn of events, Crichton learns that when they marry, the two will be turned into statues for 80 years so they can learn how the government works.

Crichton is set free from his statue in "The Maltese Crichton," but when Katralla's mother, Empress Novia, reveals that Katralla is pregnant, he demands to be turned into a statue again, wanting to be there for his child. However, Crichton won't survive the transformation process again. A deal is made for Tyno to take Crichton's place (since the public had yet to see Crichton), so long as the secret stays between them.
