Joe Siracusa

Joesiracusa

Joe Siracusa (1922-2021) was a sound/music editor and musician who was a music editor for the first season of Muppet Babies. He had been a drummer with Spike Jones from 1946 to 1952 and was heard on most of the record singles used on Sam and Friends, including "Dance of the Hours" and "Chloe."

As a member of Spike Jones and His City Slickers, Siracusa also built prop instruments and devised gags, such as a one-man band getup and the two-headed drummer (used in live shows and later on TV). Upon leaving Jones, he joined animation studio UPA as a film editor (and hired several former Jones members). For Jay Ward, he supervised music, sound edited, and scored compilations of mostly silent film footage, and he was supervising editor on The Alvin Show and the 60s TV versions of Popeye and the animated The Lone Ranger. He worked with DePatie-Freleng for nearly two decades, on the later Looney Tunes, the Pink Panther and other shorts, Return to the Planet of the Apes, and several Dr. Seuss specials.

When the studio transitioned to Marvel Productions, Siracusa remained, composing special music for the special The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat and serving as sound or music editor on Transformers, My Little Pony and Friends, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, The Incredible Hulk, and Dungeons & Dragons.
