"Get Along" is a Sesame Street doo-wop song from Season 20.
As Kermit the Frog tries to read in a tranquil meadow, various noisy interlopers impede on his peace - the Martians study a mooing cow, the Twiddlebugs try to get a penny to the Twiddlebank, and some Anything Muppet greasers arrive with their motorcycles. Fed up with the ensuing commotion, Kermit recommends that all these different groups try and get along together by making music. After teaching them individual parts, Kermit leads them all in an a capella song about making music through cooperation.
The song is a parody of the song "Get a Job" by the Silhouettes.
Notes
- The backing Muppet vocals heard in the song were provided by a New York-based a capella group called "The Lemmings," who also supplied vocals for "Wuntafordy." The group itself consisted of alumni from "The Williams Octet."[1]
- Performers include Jim Henson (Kermit and Thomas Twiddlebug), Martin P. Robinson (red Martian), Kevin Clash (orange Martian), Jerry Nelson (Fat Blue greaser and Timmy Twiddlebug), Camille Bonora (Green greaser, named "Veronica" in dialogue, and Tessie Twiddlebug), Richard Hunt (Purple greaser and Tina Twiddlebug), David Rudman (Lavender greaser), Jim Martin (the cow), and Pam Arciero.[2]
