Frank Reidy was a saxophone and clarinet player who was part of the Jack Parnell orchestra who played on The Muppet Show. Reidy was widely sited as supplying the sax wailings for Zoot, specifically. As Dave Goelz recalled, "The only sax player I knew was Frank Reidy, of the Jack Parnell Orchestra, the musicians for the Muppet Show, and he wasn't anything like Zoot."[1]
Reidy had prior experience with madcap comedy, having backed Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan on The Goon Show. He also performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman in European concerts. On television, he was heard on the Gerry Anderson series Captain Scarlet and Space: 1999 and was orchestral manager for the 1982 miniseries I Remember Nelson.
