Flash is the saxophone player from the band Solid Foam.
He is very popular with the girls. Sometimes it's kind of hard to tell what he's saying, because he mumbles a lot (though he does sing coherently).
Primarily a saxophone player, Flash played the fiddle in The Jim Henson Hour episode 109.
Flash's puppet was given a smooth wig and performed by Jerry Nelson for the Flipper parody in Muppets Tonight episode 110, as well as being one of the goons attacking Jean-Dodd van Clamme in episode 205.
Steve Whitmire stated that he originally designed Flash to resemble his brother (who at the time, was a drummer in a rock band). Flash was first sketched with dark hair, but the puppet builder gave the character blonde hair to resemble Steve Whitmire instead.[1]
