Doug Epstein

Dougepstein

Doug Epstein is an audio engineer who worked on multiple Muppet/Sesame Street related albums in the 1980s. In particular, for Born to Add, he was also co-producer.

In addition to the Muppet albums, Epstein worked with Christopher Cerf on Fisher-Price audio products, such as Talk-to-Me Books (including Muppet related titles) and the storytapes and book line. The latter included several DC Comics titles (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League), all with several Sesame Street alumni as voices and crew.

Epstein began his audio production career at the New York City recording studio Mediasound, eventually becoming senior engineer and later starting his own studio Doug Epstein Productions. He worked on albums by Barry Manilow, Billy Taylor, Dionne Warwick, Rod Stewart, and Leon Redbone, as well as the 1985 Joe Piscopo comedy album New Jersey (with cameos by the original voices of Rocky and Bullwinkle). His audio engineering also included commercials such as the original Diet Coke campaign spots.
