Denny Doherty (1940-2007) was a singer and songwriter who was a member of The Mamas and the Papas. He was interviewed in the Jim Henson produced documentary Youth 68.

Doherty co-wrote the group's songs "I Saw Her Again" and "Got a Feelin'." Apart from the band, he had a brief solo recording career and acted periodically in Canadian film and TV. He played the Harbour Master on Theodore Tugboat and had parts in Oh, What a Night (directed by Eric Till), Hurt Penguins (directed and co-written by Myra Fried), and the TV movies Elvis Meets Nixon (with Bob Gunton) and Prince Charming (with Martin Short, Bernadette Peters, and others).
