Alan Bennett

Alanbennett

Alan Bennett (b. 1934) is an English author, playwright and actor. He first became well-known in 1960 in the satirical revue Beyond the Fringe, which also starred Peter Cook, Dudley Moore, and Jonathan Miller.

In 1985, Bennett performed the voice of the Mock Turtle in the Creature Shop film Dreamchild.

Bennett's books include The Lady in the Van, The Laying on of Hands, and The Clothes They Stood Up In. He wrote the screenplays for Prick Up Your Ears and The Madness of King George, and his play The History Boys won three Olivier Awards.
