Thanopolis was a city on an undisclosed plane, where the "War of Thanopolis" was fought.
History
In this battle, the wizard Thane Du-Moriss IV killed Noranda-Zang, although he was unaware that the dead wizard had made precautions for this, and transferred his spirit into a new body, effectively resurrecting him. Given that both Thane and Zang were able to cross the Blind Eternities despite not being planeswalkers, the plane on which Thanopolis lay is unknown, but it appears given Zang's apparent unfamiliarity to Dominaria when he 10 years later arrived at Kieve, that Thanopolis lay on a different plane than Dominaria.[1]
