Sharaman was a human general, leading Urza's Argivian armies during the time of the Brothers' War.

Description

Sharaman was a general in Urza's armies, who later lingered in Urza's Tower as a spirit. His presence as a ghost was marked by a profound sense of melancholy and sorrow. As a spirit, he appeared as a gray, ethereal being, indistinct but capable of assuming a semblance of solidity when influenced by external energies, such as those from Saheeli's contraptions. Sharaman's appearance included a wild, unshorn beard and a suit of armor adorned with the image of a lion, reflecting his military and Argivian background. His spectral form could express intense emotions, and he retained a strong sense of duty and regret over the actions he took during his life. Sharaman’s haunting presence was sustained by a black crystal orb encased in a silver cage, which channeled psychic energy to him, giving him strength and preventing his complete dissipation.[1][2]

History

In life, Sharaman was a dedicated soldier of the Argivian armies of Urza. He served faithfully during the Brothers' War, serving as an ornithopter pilot with Lieutenant rank before the Fall of Kroog. He was the only survivor along with Urza of the battle against Mishra's War Machine, where he broke his leg. He stayed with Urza at Urza's Tower and in 36 AR participated in Urza's coronation as Lord Protector of the Combined Kingdoms. By the time of the Liberation of Yotia, Sharaman had been promoted to General.[1]

Sharaman was present at the Fall of Terisia City, where he was stunned at the Third Path's use of magic, an entirely new concept at the time.[3]

This war ravaged the lands of Terisiare and caused immense suffering, which Sharaman witnessed firsthand. Despite his loyalty, he was deeply affected by the horrors of war, particularly the loss of his nephews to Mishra's dragon engines and the moral compromises made, such as the sacking of regions like Sardia for resources. These experiences left him embittered and disillusioned, leading him to question the righteousness of their cause.[2]

After his death, Sharaman's spirit lingered, fueled by unresolved guilt and the anguish of his actions. The black crystal orb, a creation of Urza, continued to supply him with energy, enabling his ghostly form to persist. His presence became a cautionary manifestation against repeating the destructive cycle of war and misuse of power. When Saheeli and Kaya encountered him, they learned that his primary concern was to prevent the rekindling of such destructive forces, even if it meant opposing their actions and destroying their equipment. Despite Saheeli trying to talk him down, he broke the Temporal Anchor and tried to flee into full incorporeality, only barely stopped by Kaya, who stabbed him with her ghostblade, ending his spiritual existence.[2]
