Primata Delphine was a priestess and inquisitor of the Church of Tal during The Dark Age of Dominaria.[1] She formed part of the Order of St. Zil.
Description
Delphine was described as "massive" and "huge", larger than two Alsoorian guards put together. She was broad-shouldered and tall, with a lantern jaw and heavy, brooding eyes that seemed twisted in a perpetual scowl. Her robes were white and marked with the double sunburst of Tal. Although she was dedicated to hunting spellcasters, she was ironically one herself - able to cast white spells such as Holy Light and red spells like summoning a flaming sword to her hand.[1]
History
Delphine was based in the city-state of Alsoor, where Voska and Jodah were brought after being arrested. She questioned them harshly, and the two mages saw no other escape than using magic. Casting a flash of light spell, Jodah blinded Delphine and her guards, and he and Voska escaped through a window. Although Jodah was helped out of the city by Ith's Rag Man, Voska was shot full of crossbow bolts and killed. Delphine later planted a false rumor of Voska's survival, which led to her capture of Sima, who came to investigate. [1]
After the Battle of Pitdown Jodah freed Sima and together, they set a fire, freeing the Church of Tal's other prisoners. Delphine cornered them, stunning Sima with a Holy Light spell and summoning a flaming sword to wield against Jodah, but his mirror reflected the fire onto Delphine and she had to drop roll to extinguish herself while Jodah and Sima escaped on her horse.[1]
To track down Jodah and Sima, Delphine enlisted the aid of the Miracle Worker Betje. Betje was able to track Sima as she headed north towards the Conclave of Mages, and Delphine and Betje followed her there. Enlisting a few local towns into an army, Delphine led an assault on the Conclave. Although they did kill several mages, Delphine ended up facing down Mairsil the Pretender, wielding the Wand of Ith. With the wand, Mairsil drained all of Delphine's magical defenses, and then stabbed her in the chest, killing her. Although she did not survive her assault, Delphine's actions inadvertedly caused the Fall of the Conclave of Mages through causing a distraction that allowed Jodah and Sima to free Lord Ith from Barl's Cage.[1]
