Leona is the protagonist of Leona the Werewolf and a support character in Morgana and Oz. She is a Werewolf, and the adoptive mother of Oz.

Characteristics

Physical appearance

Leona has long, shaggy brown hair and yellow eyes with slit pupils. She has four large canines, and though it's not seen as an adult, she does have a shaggy brown tail. As a wolf, Leona retains her shaggy brown hair and yellow eyes, but has light brown around her eyes and on the underside of her muzzle, legs, and belly. Throughout her life, Leona is always seen wearing bright colors and pastels.

Personality

Leona is a kind girl with a peppy personality and is always in a good mood. She has a strong sense of justice, is unafraid to jump in front of someone when danger is near, and has even made it her life goal to protect and befriend everyone. Leona praises those that she cares deeply for, usually to the point of embarrassing them.

Powers and abilities

• Lycanthropy: Leona has the ability to transform into a large wolf.
• Hyperosmia: Even in her Human form, Leona has a strong sense of smell and can even smell blood from long distances.

Story

Early history

Leona is from a family of Werewolves. Leona spent much of her youth goofing around and trying to find someone to play with, always being disappointed that her younger brother, Victor, was too busy studying to attend Witch Academy instead of playing with her. She decides to attend a Human school after coming up with a brilliant plan to protect and live alongside Humans by showing them that Werewolves are nice people. On her first day of school, two classmates lure Leona to a playground with the promise of play, but abandon her right away. She's later joined by another classmate, Arthur, who actually came to play with her.^[1][2]

While at the playground, a Vampire named Eliot joins them. He tries to convince Leona and Arthur that the blood he's covered in is his own and that he's simply there to play ball with them. Despite her hesitance towards him, Leona jumps at the chance to play with other children. Later that evening, Leona and Arthur head home and run into a group of Witches who warn them that a dangerous Vampire is on the loose. Arthur believes the Witches are talking about Eliot, but Leona comforts him by reaffirming her goal of protecting and befriending the people of this town.^[3]

Years later, Leona meets Arthur at a festival, bringing her brother, Victor, along with her. While Victor is off searching for Eliot, Leona and Arthur enjoy their first date together. All is going well until Leona smells blood and decides to check it out on her own. Leona finds a blood-covered Eliot standing over the bodies of a slaughtered family. An argument ensues between the two over what Eliot has done, but Eliot retorts that Humans have never been the kindest to creatures like them so why shouldn't they return the favor? Typical to fashion, Leona doesn't care how others have treated her and only wants to continue protecting the Humans of this town.

Eliot runs off shortly before Arthur and Victor find Leona, cradling the child who's family had just been murdered. Leona is devastated that she wasn't able to save these people, but Victor points out that the child is still alive, though he's been transformed into a Vampire. Knowing that the Witches wouldn't allow the child to live, Leona decides to raise and protect him herself. Arthur joins Leona in raising the child, Oz, and together they have three more biological children.^[4][5]
