A trial key is an item found in trial chambers.
Its functionality remained a mystery for a pretty good time, but on the Minecraft Monthly of January 2024, it has been revealed to open vaults, which once opened will drop an item. It's still unknown what the loot will be, but it was seen dispensing the following: Enchanted iron helmet, enchanted iron leggings, enchanted crossbow, enchanted diamond chestplate, iron, gold, and diamond horse armor, enchanted golden apple, saddle, enchanted diamond axe, enchanted iron pickaxe, and enchanted iron shovel.
The trial key can currently be obtained from trial spawners (50%), or from pots and chests (8%).
