Career

The Fashion Band (as they were originally called) was formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England, and featured John Mulligan (bass/synthesizer), Dik Davis (drums), and Al "Luke Sky" James (lead vocals, guitar). Early on their music was like the ongoing punk style in the UK, later transforming into New Wave/Electro sounds. In 1979-80 they toured, with future mega-stars Duran Duran opening for them. In the USA Fashion (as they were later called) opened for The Police and the B-52s. Their first album, Product Perfect was released in 1979, In 1980 James left the band and when their second album, Fabrique (featuring "You Only Left Your Picture" and "Whitestuff") was released, the band included Dee Harriss and Martin Recchi joining. The album was re-released two other times under two different names in the 1990s and 2000's. Their final studio album was Twilight of Idols before the group disbanded in 1983. In 2009 James reformed Fashion with Balcony and Vuk Pavolvic and released an album Stairway to Nowhere but no tour was planned.
