LAG-2

"Hmm, I don't remember that one. It mustn't be that important."
This article is about a subject from outside Hideo Kojima's core "Metal Gear Saga." Its canonicity within the continuity is disputed, therefore reader discretion is advised.[?]

The LAG-2 was an American-made recoilless rocket propelled grenade launcher designed to counter the Russians in the munitions market during conflict zones, made in the mid-to-late 2010s.

Overview

The LAG-2 was made mostly of plastic to keep costs down, meaning its production was meant to benefit the national economy more than national defense. However, the contractor that developed the weapon also made a customizable version meant for use against cyborgs via their private armory. The modifications included a magnetic locator, which avoided the risk of causing interference due to the gun itself being made of plastic. The ammunition was also a 2 kilogram HEAT-MP shaped warhead, which was capable of exploding into a thousand ceramic flechettes. As a result, it also had enough explosive power to completely stop an APC in its tracks when making a direct hit. However, a drawback was that it used an inertia-based charge, meaning the cyborg could easily evade the attack when given enough time.

In 2018, several cyborgs of Desperado Enforcement LLC. and World Marshal Inc. utilized the LAG-2 launcher in their operations, including an ambush in Africa, as well as firing on Raiden's car during his trek into Denver. Raiden himself also procured several of these weapons systems during his missions against Desperado. The World Marshal Inc. HQ building's main lobby also had glass cases containing the LAG-2.

Behind the scenes

Rising-RPG-2

The LAG-2 rocket launcher, simply called "Rocket Launcher" in-game, is a weapons system utilized in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance both by the enemy, as well as a subweapon by the player. Although the weapon itself is fictional, it combined several design traits from both the RPG-7 and the Panzerfaust.
