Zaran

Zaran (also known as Mu Capricorni) is a star and associated star system located in the space of the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant.

History and specifics

A type F white star, Zaran was in the vicinity of Delta Herculis and Beta Coronae Borealis, near the borders of the First Federation. It was visible from Earth in the constellation of Capricornus. Zaran was the location of a planetary system, including Zaran II. (ST reference: Star Charts)

Five worlds orbited the star. (Decipher RPG module: Aliens)

Aliens identified Zaran as a type K4 VI orange subdwarf star, contrary to its real-world status and listing in Star Charts as a type F star.

It was located near the Marie Celeste sector and Cephalus. (TOS novel: Triangle)

In the early 2250s decade, on reference stardate 1/9302.23, the USS Clandre visited Zaran and made first contact with a Zaranite starship. (FASA RPG module: Star Trek IV Sourcebook Update)

In 2273, the Federation starship USS Enterprise visited the system to return Zantra to his homeworld. (TOS comic: "The Real McCoy")

In 2386, Memory Alpha's Alpha Quadrant: Local Space Extract star chart included Zaran. (ST reference: Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library)
