Sylix was a Vulcan male in the mid 24th century.
Sometime before 2354, he was married to a Human woman named Antigone Chen, and in that year fathered a daughter, T'Ryssa. Sylix and Chen divorced circa 2356, and the mother kept custody of their daughter. (TNG novel: Greater Than the Sum)
Sylix was seriously injured when the Borg attacked Vulcan in 2381, suffering severe burns and the loss of his right eye. He was transferred to Raal Provincial Hospital, where he was treated and given an ocular implant to replace his lost eye. While recuperating, he attempted to determine the location and condition of his former wife, and when unable to do so, initiated contact with his daughter. Though she was initially hostile to him, she later informed him that Antigone Chen had been killed in action during the recent invasion. She also let it be known that she would possibly be receptive to future contact with Sylix. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
