The support beam was a system used by support frigate-type starships in the Kelvin timeline. Support beams were primarily used to transfer energy and shield power to allied vessels. Support beams could also be configured to destroy asteroids and small targets such as escape pods. Federation Guardian-class and Romulan Patronus-class were equipped with support beams.
