Smeet was once a Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance.
Biography
Smeet was known to be a horrible Grand Nagus who had no lobes for business, and had the unfortunate distinction of being the only Grand Nagus ever assassinated at the end of his nine-year reign. His First Clerk was also assassinated and was believed to have been buried with him. (DS9 episode: "Ferengi Love Songs")
Smeet is credited with writing the 89th, 202nd, and 218th Ferengi Rules of Acquisition. He has also been deemed to be the most boring Grand Nagus in Ferengi history. (DS9 reference: Legends of the Ferengi)
A long-popular rumor claims that Smeet had had the tapestry in the Tower of Commerce depicting Gint, the messianic first Grand Nagus, replaced with a cheap copy. (DS9 - Worlds of DS9 novel: Ferenginar: Satisfaction is Not Guaranteed)
