In the 25th century, a pair of larger, white particles defined the "eyes" of a Pahvan. When affected by Terran agonizer technology, Pahvans turned red. (STO - J'Ula's Discovery mission: "Illusion of Communication")

Corrupted Pahvan

The Federation made first contact with the Pahvans on stardate 1308.9 in the year 2256, when an USS Discovery away team, consisting of Commander Saru, Lieutenant Ash Tyler and mission specialist Michael Burnham landed on the planet. (DSC episode: "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum")

The Cal-Mirran Cooperative received signals from the Pahvans all the way in the Shackleton Expanse. The Cal-Mirrans believed the Pahvans shared their peaceful values and considered proposing an alliance. (Star Trek Adventures module: Discovery (2256-2258) Campaign Guide)
