Neptor

Neptor was an M class red star in the Salgorax-Neptor binary star system, the twin star of Salgorax.

History and specifics

About once per century, the corona of one binary creates a dramatic solar flare that induces its neighbor to flare. A highly radioactive fiery arch forms between the stars, a spacial formation that can be seen from the planet Santar.

History

In 2265, the Federation starship USS Enterprise was in orbit of Santar and transporting James T. Kirk and Spock to the surface. Radiation from solar flares misdirected the beam to Muton in the adjacent star system. (TOS comic: "Slaves of the Frogmen")
