Hiromi Sulu was a 24th century Human man, the son of Demora Sulu and the grandson of Hikaru Sulu.
By the 2340s decade, Hiromi Sulu was a Starfleet officer and held the rank of captain. He visited Trebus to warn of Cardassian military buildup and while there sponsored Chakotay's Starfleet application. (VOY novel: Pathways, VOY episode: "Tattoo (episode)")

Background
The 1995 Star Trek: Voyager episode "Tattoo" establishes that a "Captain Sulu" sponsored Chakotay's admission, though the captain is referred to as being male. The 1998 novel Pathways identifies Hiromi Sulu, the son of Demora, as the Captain Sulu in question. By contrast, the 2005 short story "Seduced" depicts Demora Sulu as the captain, attributing this gender confusion to a deliberate lie.
