Endalla was the first and largest of Bajor's moons.
History
Endalla was featured in artist Acto Viri's painting Bajor at Peace. (DS9 - Mission: Gamma novel: Twilight)
The moon possessed a thin but breathable atmosphere and enough liquid water to support basic plant life. It was home to several Bajoran scientific research laboratories, focused mostly on studying the moon itself. Lenkit Casten was working at one such lab as an ecologist. (DS9 novels: Sacraments of Fire, Ascendance)
In 2377, Endalla was hit by the aftershock of an Ascendant isolytic subspace weapon. The cost was thousands of lives and transformed the entire surface of the moon into a wasteland and ripped away its atmosphere. (DS9 novel: Ascendance)
In 2380, members of the Ohalavaru sect, a Bajoran extremist group, intended to strip-mine the planetoid to uncover proof of their beliefs that the Prophets were not gods, but merely "teachers". To that end, they brought massive amounts of explosives to the moon's surface. Although they were foiled in their ultimate goal by Starfleet and Bajoran authorities, a large explosion did occur, which cost multiple lives and turned an area of Endalla's surface into black glass. By 2385, Security Outpost Endalla One was located on the surface of Endalla to stop further Ohalavaru attacks. The Endalla falsework was later discovered there. (DS9 novel: Sacraments of Fire)
In 2387, Endalla was destroyed by the Devidians and their Nagas creatures. (ST novel: The Ashes of Tomorrow)
