Donatu was a star with an associated system, located in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant, in Federation space near the 23rd century Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone border with the Klingon Empire.
History and specifics
The Donatu system's orbit was the location of a number of worlds, including fifth planet Donatu V, a class M world that was the site of a Federation outpost in the 2240s decade.
In the year 2244, the Donatu system was the location of the famous Battle of Donatu V between Starfleet and Klingon forces. (TOS episode: "The Trouble with Tribbles")
In the 25th century, Donatu II was a class J planetoid locked in orbit with several hundred large asteroids. (STO - Allies mission: "Bigger Picture")
Mirror universe
In the mirror universe's late 2240s or early 2250s, Donatu V was the site of a Klingon weapons test that destroyed the planet. Subsequently, the ISS Thermopylae and ISS Indomitable were engaged by the Klingons within the Donatu system. (TOS - Mirror Universe- Shards and Shadows short story: "Ill Winds")
