Dankanasaur

The Dankanasaur was a carnivorous dinosaur species native to the Delta Quadrant. The Voth trained dankansaurs as soldiers and installed cybernetic implants in their bodies. These were called bio-engineered Dankansaurs. Dankanasaurs stood two meters tall and jumped on their prey to subdue them. Their body plan was reminiscent of Velociraptors but lacked the distinctive sickle claw. (STO mission: "Supply Woes", Star Trek Online official website: Season 8 Dev Blog #6)

Bio-engineered Dankanasaurs

The Voth bred and trained several types of dinosaurs to use as shock troops. Bio-engineered Dankansaurs were small, raptor-like dinosaurs equipped with a prominent cybernetic implant on top of their skulls. They attacked in groups and a would jump on the shoulders of humanoid enemies, pinning them to the ground and injuring them with their teeth. Unlike larger bio-engineered dinosaurs used by the Voth, Dankanasaurs were not equipped with energy weapons.

The larger Furiadon was less animalistic than Dankanasaurs. (Star Trek Online official website: Season 8 Dev Blog #6) In 2409, Dyson Joint Command rescued raptors from a spire in the Solanae Dyson Sphere. Their body plan was extremely similar to Dankanasaurs but they were only trained for combat and not specifically bred for that purpose. These orphaned raptors were available for Allied officers as pets. (Star Trek Online official website: Season 8 Dev Blog #20)

History

When the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Republic allied to fight against the Voth for the supremacy of the Solanae Dyson Sphere in 2409, the Voth unleashed bio-engineered dinosaurs on the battlefields to assist their own troops. The Alpha Quadrant powers were surprised to encounter living, breathing dinosaurs. (STO missions: "Circles within Circles", "Supply Woes")
