Core

Core was a fictional planet appearing in literature of the 20th century Earth science fiction series The Adventures of Captain Proton.

Fictional history and specifics

The Core was a central axis point for all of space, equidistant to all other locations, and was positioned outside of space-time. It served as neutral territory for advanced races and was considered the most powerful location in the universe. For advanced beings such as Folke, it took the appearance of Luna, including an empty black sky and surface dust.

In the year 2000, Captain Proton and Buster Kincaid traveled to the Core through an Interspacial Cross-Galactic Door from the Troon homeworld. After a brief contact with Folke and Sandor, Proton and Kincaid were left on a small platform on the surface. Because the world was a powerful center of imagination, anything real could be created out of one's thoughts, and Proton filled the world with green grass, meadows, and streams. Using just his mind, he was able to return himself, Kincaid, and their ship to Earth, which he explained by saying that they were the center of his universe. (ST - Captain Proton: Defender of the Earth short story: "Children of the Glass")

The planet and neighboring region were similar to nonspace, a region where magic was possible, De Sitter space, a region outside of normal space-time, and a subspace parallel universe where thoughts could power a starship.
